UK Housing Minister to Use Blockchain to Rebuild Societal Trust

A report was released about Blockchain by the Housing Minister of UK, Eddie Hughes, recently, who urged the government to “show leadership” by making the exploration of Blockchain and its benefits a priority.

Even though the government has confirmed that they’re investigating Blockchain’s potential in currently, it still remains unsure that if lawmakers will derive benefit from the decentralized technology. Cabinet office and Government Digital Service are already probing the potential of blockchain for bringing about efficiency in the existing systems.

Hughes also proposed a “long-term” reduction in expenses using blockchain with a goal of saving £8 billion.

The report also makes reference to DLT’s use in which Hughes says that should be expanded including other technologies like AI and that the country should have a “Chief Blockchain Officer”.
