US-based taxi-hailing service Uber has accused its Indian competitor Ola of crippling its operations by creating fake accounts on its platform, resulting in heavy losses.
Uber’s President of business in Asia Eric Alexander in a recent interview has revealed Uber’s growth plans and strategy with local partners to enhance performance. He stated that India and China are the two fastest growing markets for Uber and in India the business is growing 40% month on month.
Uber currently has around 7-9 people working in their engineering team in Bangalore and they are aggressively planning to scale up the team in this year, who will work with the ongoing operations of the company in San Francisco.

uberCOMMUTE lets drivers of private cars share their ride with fellow commuters headed in the same direction. The service will be available between 7am to 9pm across Bangalore. The company had earlier launched uberPOOL in Bangalore where fellow riders can share their Uber ride and split the cost.
The centre will customize solutions based on the local market needs. The company will be hiring software engineers and products managers who will work closely with its on-ground operations teams and its product engineering team in San Francisco and will be responsible for the business growth in India.
“We are temporarily removing this product to solve specific problems that need to be resolved to help it scale,” said a spokesperson for Uber to Quartz. The company has shut down uberAUTO two weeks ago, and did not provide any specific timeline for a relaunch.
Currently, the service will be available only in Delhi and will eventually expand. In collaboration with iCareLife, Uber has been training its drivers on how to assist the riders with different needs like boarding the car, storage of wheelchairs etc. This service is already available in other countries.
