SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Explosion Kills Facebook Satellite

The company’s Falcon 9 blew up on the launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida, also destroying the Amos-6 satellite it was carrying that would have been the first to serve Facebook’s internet.org project.

SpaceX said, “an anomaly” around the upper stage oxygen tanks, that occurred during propellant loading of the vehicle led to the mishap.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, said he was “deeply disappointed” to hear that the satellite had been destroyed.
