Hot on the media trail just hours after launching its 2015 flagship killer OnePlus 2 smartphone, Chinese manufacturer OnePlus has said that it aims to sell 1 million devices in India over the next five months.

The OnePlus 2 (64GB) will go on sale in India on August 11 for Rs 24,999; roughly half of what the entry-level iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6 cost at launch. The device will be exclusive to Amazon India and will sell via invites only.

India is already OnePlus’ fourth largest global market after China, USA and Europe. Vikas Agarwal, GM of OnePlus India was quoted by PTI saying that the company expects to sell 1 million units of the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 in India by December.

The company will continue to sell the OnePlus One alongside its replacement, albeit at a lower cost and without an invite system. So far, about 2.5 lakh units of the OnePlus One have been sold in India since the device’s launch last December.

Global smartphone manufacturers are quickly ramping up their India operations in order to ride the wave of growth. Apple is apparently setting up 500 authorized stores across the country after it witnessed a 93% y-o-y increase in sales during Q2 CY15.
