Number of Aadhaar-based Transactions Raises from 8.82Cr to 312Cr Since Inception

Aadhaar-based authentications and eKYC transactions that are used to authenticate the identity of customers / employees / other associates have skyrocketed since its inception in 31st May 2014.

According to the data tweeted by Law & Justice, Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, the number of Aadhaar-based transactions has gone from 8.82Cr to 312Cr and the number of eKYC transactions has gone from 0.03cr to 34cr as of 31st October 2016.

The Minister also said that 1.05 billion Aadhar users have helped saved Rs 36,000 crore which otherwise would have been taken by middlemen and fictitious persons.

“If we take 2015 census, the Aadhaar today covers 98 per cent of adult population. 50 lakh people of India are accessing their biometrics on daily basis. The minister said that around 32 crore people have linked their bank accounts to Aadhaar. “Total number of transactions on Aadhaar platform has reached 131.11 crore and total amount involved in those transactions is Rs 37,184.81 crore. We have saved amount of about Rs 36,000 crore from Aadhaar based transactions,” he said.
