What can challenge Xiaomis and Lenovos of the world ?

Meet Le1S : LeECo’s flagship product that was launched in India last week.

Some of the key specs are:

  • 5.50-inch touchscreen display with
  • Resolution : 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels at a PPI of 403 pixels per inch.
  • 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor and it comes with 3GB of RAM.
  • 32GB of internal storage (not expandable).
  • 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front
  • Dual SIM : Micro and Nano

——

The price of Le1s in India is 10,999, which is quite attractive for the feature it offers (pretty good value for money).

We have been playing with the phone for the last 4 days and here is our quick review (we will be doing a detailed video review later).

Le1S Design

The design quality is very good. Metallic unibody with curved edges and slim size (7.5mm) makes it a really well designed product.

Le 1s has USB Type-C port, probably the first manufacturer to offer Type-C in this price range.

Fingerprint Scanner

For somebody who is used to iPhone’s fingerprint scanner, Le1s doesn’t disappoint. Fingerprint scanner works as expected.

Performance & Battery Life

After installing the regular memory hoggers like Facebook / Ecommerce apps etc, we didn’t notice any degradation in the performance. Having said that, it takes a few months to gauge the performance of most of the Android devices (after a few OS upgrades).

When it comes to battery life, we’d strongly recommend you carry the Le1s charger along. The battery usually lasts 7-8 hours (few calls / data consumption) and given that it has Type-C port, you won’t get compatible chargers easily. Just a friendly advice.

Plus, the one thing that we definitely liked about this device is that there aren’t a lot of pre-installed apps (unlike Gionee). LeTV’s custom skin, EUI is neat and surprisingly, very sober.

Overall verdict : Impressive build. Great value for money. For sure, Le1S will eat into the market share of Xiaomi, OnePlus and Lenovo – so expect price war in the coming days.

The next flash sale is happening today – so grab Le1S if you can.
