Reliance Jio will reportedly extend the period of free 4G services to attract subscriber growth, even though TRAI has directed the company to end its Welcome Offer on December 3.

According to the telecom regulator, operators cannot offer a plan with free services for more than 90 days, however, the company has informed TRAI that because they are unable to deliver adequate connectivity due to interconnection, it will be unfair to charge the customer. (Source)

Hike Messenger begins to roll out video calling
India’s very own homegrown messaging app Hike has launched video calling feature for its users. Video calling, the beta of which was rolled out in September this year to a select set of less than a hundred thousand , will now begin to roll out to the entire userbase starting with Android users this week, the company said.

Video calling on Hike works on a single tap that is integrated into chat threads with friends. Live caller preview is another interesting aspect of video calling on Hike. This allows the user to see a live video preview of the caller before answering the call.

Alibaba launches ‘Global E-Commerce Talents’ programme in India
The Chinese e-commerce giant has launched its “Global E-commerce Talents” (GET) programme in India, aimed at equipping students, small business professionals and entrepreneurs with the competitive skills and essential resources required to prepare for the global e-commerce industry.

The first batch of GET will be partnered by the Centre of Ecommerce Excellence, Indian Institute of E-commerce, First EduIndia Limited, and Unified Growth Foundation, and the programme will be available in select colleges, which will include Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) and Kalinga University.
