The Indian Railway has launched a new mobile application for the booking of tickets in the unreserved category, which also pushes its new agenda of paperless ticketing.
The app is available for download on Google’s Play Store, and has been downloaded between 50,000 – 100,000 times in the past two days.
After downloading the app, users to receive a registration ID number of creating a railway e-wallet. Loading money into the e-wallet will be possible through either a credit card or debit card on the IRCTC website or at a ticket counter at any railway station.
Users who book tickets via the app will not need to show a printed copy to the TTE, displaying a soft copy would suffice. Besides booking unreserved tickets, users will also be able to reserve season tickets using the app.
