Bangalore based Foradian Technologies which made the popular open source school management information system Fedena, has launched Fedena Marketplace, a place to buy plugins for Fedena.
The plugins and tools sold at the marketplace can be used on Fedena’s school management system to add functionality. Administrators can choose from various plugins, developers can get access to Fedena users, teachers can access new plugins to improve teaching and parents can buy elearning content, devices and other services on the marketplace.Fedena is an open source ERP product for schools. Last year, the company introduced OEM partner model for the product and started issuing developer licences which will allow any other company to build their application using Fedena’s source code.
The Bangalore based startup has clients like Aditya Birla Group of Institutions, Hope College (Australia) and Kerala government (to automate 13,000 schools with more than 70 lakh students and 1.5 lakh teachers) and claims to reach more than 20 mn students.
The company follows the open source model of giving the software for free and charging for installations/training and support/maintenance (also dual licensing/hosting services). On Teachers day, Fedena launched its version 2.3 with support for CCE, CWA and GPA standards.
