Kishore Biyani Trains Guns At Bigbasket; Terms It Illegal As Per New Regulations

Just days after Department of Industrial policy and Promotion announced 100% FDI in marketplace model of e-commerce, several traditional retailing groups have raised their voice in support of the new permits and level playing field for brick-and-mortar and online retailers.

Future Group CEO, Kishore Biyani attacked India’s leading online grocer Bigbasket, terming its operation as illegal.

“As we speak, Bigbasket’s inventory-based model has become illegal as per the latest government notifications. They do not have any sellers and directly sell to customers,” said Biyani.

He earlier took Flipkart head-on over print campaigns.

BigBasket recently raised $150mn and competes directly with Future group’s core business.
