While there are improvements required at every stage, there can’t be a significant improvement in ticket booking experience without making core changes. All these performance improvements can reduce passenger frustration by completing the booking experience faster without many failures, but still will not do anything to the number of people who end up not getting a reservation.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), reports 17.22 million attempted transactions via credit and debit card for the month of July. Out of which 12.91 million (75 %) transactions were successfully processed.
IRCTC has introduced IMPS Merchant Payments (P2M – Person-to-merchant) payment option that allows customers to make instant, 24*7, interbank payments to merchants or enterprises via mobile phone.
