Nokia launches real-time traffic updates in Mumbai and Delhi

Nokia has launched ‘traffic feature’, a real-time traffic update feature in Mumbai and Delhi, which will soon be available to all Nokia smartphone devices (including Windows devices). The service uses Navteq Traffic Pro application and is free for Nokia users (though you’ll be paying for the data access, just a fyi).

Fully developed by Nokia and powered by Navteq traffic pro, the application offers coverage with detailed information on traffic speeds on roads to enable accurate estimated arrival times that would help consumers to save time and fuel (though at the cost of phone battery).

For Nokia, this could open up new monetization channel as well – i.e. SoLoMo (Social, Local, Mobile), sans So(cial) and the company plans to develop platform services for device manufacturers, application developers, internet services providers and advertisers.

If you are in Delhi/Mumbai, do give the service a spin (when it launches) and share your comments/feedback.
