Home grown mobile phone maker Micromax is the second most researched handset brand after Samsung in February 2013, beating biggies like Apple and Nokia, according to a new report.
Sony is still able to generate quite a bit of consumer interest with their handsets, being the fourth most researched mobile brand on the Internet in February 2013, said the report titled “Mobile Handset Market Insights,” by Precision Match.
The report is based on audience data of 5.3 million unique users across India over the three months (December 2012 to February 2013).
Even with the hype that BlackBerry created with their latest handset, the BlackBerry Z10, they still struggle to create any buzz, and are seventh most search handset brand in India with just 4% of searches.
The Micromax A110 Canvas 2 was the most researched handset model in January 2013, with the Samsung Galaxy S3 taking the top slot in December 2012 and February 2013. In the full three month period the S3 was the most popular phone, but the Canvas 2 was just 0.32% behind.
When it came to price categories, the Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 band and that for high-end phones above Rs 20,000 were the 2 most researched handset price categories.
