Kalyan Manyam, founder of Indyarocks has launched Mojostreet, a location based real world game that lets you compete with your friends through location specific actions.
The stealth startup has secured USD 350k funding for its location based mobile game. The funding was led by Srini Koppolu former MD of Microsoft India R&D and J.A. Chowdary former MD of Nvidia(India).
The service is expected to be made available via a Invite only private beta by first week of May. Those who wish to be part for the private beta launch can register at www.mojostreet.com
Given that Foursquare and others haven’t yet expanded in India (at a rate one would expect them to), the market is wide open for desi innovation/experience and we hope Mojostreet has figured out its mojo!
More about the service (and retail partnerships) when Mojostreet by May 1st.

They have been around for quite a while… I saw first noticed the site around 6 months ago. Was very basic.
Or am I wrong and it was something else?
I am sure it was a different site and not Mojostreet :-)
All these LBS startups are boring. Think about it. What do you want to do in your current location? I am usually at my home/office. There are not the places I want to share my thoughts. I want to share in Bombay, Japan, Libya, Sri Lanka. Because my thoughts do not belong to where I am currently.
The perfect match is zeole.com You can share your thoughts anywhere in the world!
I sincerely hope they have a revenue model based on retail partnerships and NOT depend on all location based advertising etc – for example, do we know that India’s TOTAL online market equals Facebook’s 3 week revenue? (http://statspotting.com/?p=359)
Or maybe location based gaming is some time into the future and we will see this happen.
