iPhone 3G is is being launched in India by Airtel on March 26th and Vodafone too is expected to launch the phone later. has announced that it will also sell iPhone 3GS in India.
iPhone 3GS Price in India
- 16 GB model will cost Rs 35,500
- 32GB model will cost Rs 41,500.
Meanwhile, the price of iPhone 3G phone has been reduced by Rs. 1,500 to Rs 29,500.
So while the US model costs $299, it is sad that India prices are vulgarly so high [Apple hasn’t yet got the pulse of Indian market].
To minimize the ‘damage’, Airtel has come up with a sweet data plan for iPhone 3GS users and is offering 500MB of data download/month for the first year free (Charges after free usage are Re. 0.30 / 50 KB).
While 3G will take another 7-8 months, do you think this is a worthwhile investment?

almost 1 year after its launch in US/Canada, they are launching it in India. I speculate that iPhone’s next installment will arrive in June last week, this year (they have been following this trend for last 3 years). I plan to buy it in Canada.
My question is, is it possible to use iPhone (with no contract) bought in Canada to be used with Airtel/Vodafone here in India, without voiding the warranty? Also comments on speculations for the next iPhone will be well appreciated.

The advice is to use the iPhone and then form the opinion… Others users only have idea about the features other phones offer.. Without knowing about the iPhone features, you can’t compare the two.. iPhone, being a device which can make calls, is just a feature of iPhone.. It’s the most loaded device one can have.. I think in India people don’t realize the potential of iPhone, yet. Here in Singapore every other person is using iPhone. In fact Singapore has the highest iPhone density in the world. You can practically use your iPhone for almost everything..reading news, watch tv, play games, surf internet, internet banking, GPS navigation…and so on. The 1.5 hundred thousand Apps available for iPhone make is stand out of competition and that’s the real power of the iPhone.
Some people who have not seen how these things work on an iPhone may comment that even their old GSM phone can do this…what I can tell you here is guys..forget the standard GSM phones..even the smartphones (windows mobile..etc) are practically not so easy and useful for these activities. But on an iPhone you can do all of this with ease and fun!!

I hope you will be aware that Iphone4 is released now. you can get am iphone in USA for $299 16 gb- what you should be aware of is it come with a 2 year contract in which you have to pay $55 every month for 2 yrs. if you break the contract AT&T is now charging $399. so the cost of iphone will be a lot more that what you get in india. I am writing to you from UK where the iphone 4 is released . i have preorderd an iphone4 for £499 pounds which is sim unlock and you can use anywhere in the world. so the cost of Iphone is around 36000 for 16gb which is kind of the price that they sell in india.

Ok, so all the people saying Iphone is better than all the Nokia models, i wish to ask, are you all Apple employees? Because a Nokia N97 mini costs Rs 19000(even less) whereas the latest I phone will cost around Rs. 37000 that is almost double the price of MINI. SO are the features so good that you have to Approx. 70% per capita income of India on a phone.

An iphone actually is one of the the best phones ever. There are atleast a million applications which are so useful everyday. People can text each other unlimted, send pics, use email, and do anything on it that we do on a computer. If ur friends have iphones then u can even talk with them unlimited using just applications so u are not spending any money on a call what so ever. Even video calls and u dont even need to have 3g in ur state for tht! Its all done for free through applications. But u do need Wi-fi or internet. Nokia phones dont exactly have that. Seriously! My dad has a new touchscreen nokia and he paid around 20K for it and it doesnt even do half of what my iphone does.

Hi guys, I recently bought my first iphone, 3GS in Bangalore; 2nd week of November 2010. Am absolutely thrilled with it. Having a vodafone postpaid connection, and the folks at vodafone store and iStore were extremely courteous in setting up the phone, syncing it and activating it for the initial setup. I have been a MacbookPro laptop user since a long time, and absolutely loved the set. Cost: INR 42,000 for the set, and rest 2K for plan, SMS package + postpaid SIM etc. Overall, excellent.
