Eat This: India’s Flipboard is Bigger than Flipboard & Pulse [6.5 mn Monthly Users, 25 mn downloads]

Guess which app is the largest news aggregation in India. Is it Flipboard? No. Pulse? No.

Okay, we’ll give it to you: its an app called NewsHunt, which beats both Flipboard and Pulse.

Here’s how: there are 12 million articles read on NewsHunt everyday compared to the 10 million read on pulse. NewsHunt has 6.5 million monthly active users compared to the 4 million on Flipboard. Each user spends close to 121 minutes monthly on NewsHunt compared to the 86 minutes on Flipboard.

Of course you all know that Pulse was acquired last month by LinkedIn for $90 mn right?

NewsHunt is the largest News application in India and the #1 News Application on Google Play. With 25 million installs, 6.5 million monthly active users and 650 million page views per month, it is one of those wildly successful applications from India.  The platform publishes in 11 languages and covers 80 + regional publications.

We invited Virendra Gupta, founder of NewsHunt to talk to the startup community in Bangalore at the NEXTBIGWHAT #Startuproots event. Those who missed the talk, here’s a video in which Gupta traces the journey.
