Idea follows Airtel, takes to the cloud with 3G dongle
Mobile operator Idea cellular launched a 3G dongle with cloud based services on Thursday. Through the dongle, one can access internet, use 2 GB of cloud storage and a messenger services which allows communication between cloud users. Recently, Idea’s larger rival Airtel had partnered with Microsoft to offer cloud based office 365 productivity solutions to small and medium businesses.
The cloud dongle from Idea also allows users to share pictures, music, videos and documents through the ‘Cloud Share’ option, syncing all the attached devices. Other features include data backup and easy recovery on the cloud.
Announcing the launch Mr Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular said, “The new 3G dongle will enable consumers to take advantage of its fast data connectivity at home, office and on-the-go, and additional option to store and share files over cloud.”
Idea claims that the device is capable of download speeds of upto 7.2 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps. Idea is offering free storage of upto 2GB for a period of one year.
The new dongle is priced at Rs 1,799 and will be available through Idea outlets, across 22 circles.
