The Indian Premier League, the biggest sporting event in India (drama to some), gets underway tomorrow. It will see 9 teams battling it out to for the T20 crown over the next two months. Most cricket and sport fans will be glued to their TVs every evening to see if defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders can retain their title or their favorite team stands a chance this year.

Times Internet has also renewed its partnership with YouTube for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. YouTube will have exclusive live-streaming rights for desktop web viewing and non-exclusive rights for mobile viewing through the 2013 and 2014 tournaments. The streaming will be with a five minute delay in India and live in other parts of the world except USA and Canada.

Watch IPL on Your Mobile
nexGTv has bagged the official mobile streaming rights of Pepsi IPL 2013 from master rights holder Times Internet. nexGTv users will be able to watch the matches on their handsets, along with match repeats and highlights, which will be available in the Video-on-Demand section. The Pepsi IPLchannel will be clubbed into existing subscription packs of nexGTv. The service can be downloaded by sending a SMS mytv to 58888, or from any of the app stores and from the nexGTv website www.nexgtv.com
Last Year’s Numbers
Online viewership for IPL has been increasing in the past couple of years. According to Times Internet, Last year, there were 113 million page views or a 55% increase in the online viewership for IPL over the previous year, and a 43% increase in client pedestal. And the year before that, 2011, saw a 79% boost in viewership.

Twitter will be an integral part of the Pepsi IPL 2013 with a variety of applications and features to make the tournament a more interactive experience for fans. There is the Twitter Magic Mirror, which will be used for the first time in a professional sports tournament, which will, allow Cricketers and Celebrities to tweet out candid pictures with one click through the @IPL account.
The Discover Page will help users around the world to easily sign up for Twitter, view/join the #PepsiIPL conversation, and follow their favorite cricketers, teams, personalities, celebrities and more, with one click.
There will also be various other uses of Twitter like the The Team Hashtag Battle, Live Tweet Counter, Top 10 Trends, The Loyalty corner etc both on the official website as well as on television during the live broadcast.
Inside IPL on National Geographic Channel
Nat Geo will air a special series INSIDE IPL, that will reveal the facts behind the massive machinery of the Pepsi Indian Premier League. ‘Inside IPL’ will give viewers a peek into the making and shaping of India’s largest annual sporting spectacle that features 54 days of cricket, 76 matches, 9 teams, 12 venues and more than a hundred million spectators and TV viewers. ‘Inside IPL’ is scheduled to air on National Geographic later this year.
