The Indian edition of US based technology blog Gizmodo run by Gawker Media has gone live.
The Internet arm of Times Group, India’s largest media conglomerate, had partnered with Gawker to launch Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Business Insider in India.
Gizmodo.in seems to be pulling content from Bennett Coleman & Company, the holding company of the Times Group and various other sources. It is also aggregating content from Financial Times, Wired.com, The Economist and other sources.
Gizmodo.com doesn’t redirect to Gizmodo.in yet. Gawker has given Times Internet Limited rights to brand and monetize the Indian sites under a partnership announced three months ago. Times Internet will also take care of content syndication and sub licensing of content in India.
Gizmodo is Gawker’s most popular site with over 9 million unique visitors and 100 million page views every month.
Lifehacker’s Indian site doesn’t seem to be up yet. Update: The Indian edition of Lifehacker is up too (lifehacker.co.in).
The content on the Indian site retains flavors of the global site and the design has taken cues from the global site as well.
