Earlier, the company had raised funding from Anand Lunia led India Quotient, Pearl Uppal & Gaurav Kachru led Startup Superfuel, and Binny Bansal, the co-founder of Flipkart.
With this, the company has raised a total of $1 mn from investors. It was founded by Avinash Saxena, who is the ex-CTO of Zomato.com, Mayank Bhangadia, and Kaushal Shubhank – all B.Tech’s from IIT Delhi.
Roposo is a play on the French word “à propos,” which means “with respect to”. The idea is to sell relevant fashion products based on an individuals preferences, the company said. Unlike Giveter, Roposo is a full-fledged social network to which you can sign in using your Google or Facebook ID.
What is neat about the site is that it brings some order to the chaos created by thousands of fashion products online. It also gives you social signals to make a purchase decision easier. (Read our full review of Roposo).
Roposo’s algorithm was under development for over 15 months, the company said. The team behind Roposo has been running Giveter.com, a recommendation site for gifts that is used by more than 300,000 people monthly.
The company is also looking to hire talent to build algorithms, improve UI & UX, and market its offering.
