Event Discovery App Nearify Secures Seed Funding

Gurgaon based events discovery app Nearify has secured an undisclosed sum in seed funding from Seedfund Advisors and India Quotient, with participation from Bedrock Ventures, a seed- and early-stage investor.

Nearify collects information on a large set of events and makes the list available on their app. Nearify segregates information on the events based upon distance from the current location and genre of entertainment for the user to select based upon his/her needs.

The app aggregates data related to events from the web, which goes through a proprietary data processing engine for quality and relevance. It then collates that events’ data into a common format for users to consume.

Although ticketing facilities are currently not available on Nearify, the firm has plans to introduce this service soon. Nearify will also include an event promotion platform for organizers to list up their events for a fee. Setting up offices abroad is also in the pipeline.

Founded in December 2012 by three IIT Kanpur alumni — Mayank Kumar, Saurav Singh and Vivek Srivastava, Nearify mainly competes with Bangalore-based Explara (formerly Ayojak.com), which is backed by Harvard Business School (HBS) Alumni Angels, Srijan Capital and Blume Ventures and Hyderabad based MeraEvents.

After all these years of existence, what I have realized is that being clueless in life is the point where you see a lot of options opening up for you. You just have to believe in yourself to make everything work. This “profound thought” is derived out of the extreme phases of 'cluelessness' that I encountered at various points of life and ultimately ending up doing what I Love – Writing.. I also love watching movies and reading books. Biking is a passion. Silly things in life makes me angry and even sillier things make me emotional. Well what’s life if not for the great number of small things and small number of great things, right?
