As online shopping becomes more mainstream in India, offline retailers are opting for new and innovative ways to keep customers engaged.
Chennai City Center Mall has embraced a proximity-based mobile marketing technology called BeaconStream which is built on Apple’s iBeacon. Working off Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tech, beacons are placed at strategic locations across the mall, and can automatically stream information to customers’ smartphones which have the BeaconStream app installed.
Based on a customer’s location in the mall, BeaconStream serves up help-desk information, welcome messages and offers, allowing retailers will be able to push their brands directly to a user’s smartphone.
Further, BeaconStream will also function as a loyalty payment system, with users collecting points each them they receive an offer and share it on social media.
