MomGrocery launches online grocery store in Hyderabad
Over the past 2 years Indian ecommerce space has been witnessing rise of certain segments such as jewellery and diamond, cab rental and grocery amongst few others. Grocery, which considered as a tough category to sell in etaling arena, has been attracting consumers and entrepreneurs interest gradually.
While the space saw debuts of early startups like Aaramshop, Zopnow, BigBasket and Kiranawala, latest to launch the city focused online grocery stores are Pune based PuneExpress and MomGrocery in Hyderabad.
MomGrocery offers grocery (staple, cereals, flour), gourmet food, snacks, pooja items, babycare, home care and stationery including several others. Currently, the startup delivers to 15 locations including Banjara hills, Jubilee hills, Madhapur, Miyanpur and BHEL (see more locations here).
The company promises same day delivery when an order is placed before 11 AM, and next day delivery if its after 11 Am. All purchases with value of more than Rs. 500 are delivered for free of charges, however a buyer will have to pay Rs 25 extra if the merchandise value is less than Rs 500.
Consumers can make payment via debit/credit card, Internet banking including Cash on Delivery (COD). Interestingly, the startup also enables users to swipe cards instead of cash in case of cash on delivery shipping.
At present, MomGrocery.com gets around 2500 Unique monthly visits. “We are number one for many keywords about grocery in India, including being Number 1 for ‘online grocery’ on Google India” said Ram Papineni, founder, MomGrocery.
In terms of orders, as of now MomGrocery has clocked 96 orders and plans to launch its marketing campaigns in January second week. With the team of 10 people, MomGrocery plans to be #1 online grocery store in Hyderabad by 2014 , “We plan to expand our offerings to couple of more cities by 2016,” added Papineni.
MomGrocery.com has its own logistics built up and has warehouses in Kukatpally, Madhapur and Lingampally.
India is the sixth largest grocery market in the world and online retail is slowly picking up in the country.
