ebay launches books section (You can buy used books too)
Flipkart has stiff and taut competition now. ebay.in has launched read.ebay.in for book lovers. The book section offers up to 50 per cent off on approx. 6 million books. The range of books include not only new books, but also a range of rare and used books too.
There are as many as 150 odd categories books to choose from. From fact to fiction, autobiography to business management, the site serves different genres of readers. Unlike rest of the eBay site, this is a tailored experience where seller information isn’t shared.
The site is has a feel-good look and a smooth checkout process, though the only drawback is the speed – it takes way too much of time to process each request…It took us an approximate of 10-12 seconds or more to browse from one category to another.
Currently, there is no seller id corresponding to a book you wish to buy but it seems ebay is debating on the same. However, eBay is not sourcing books directly or maintaining huge logistics but are closely working with the sellers to ensure that they get the best user experience to the buyers.
So give the site a spin and share your comments. From a price comparison point of view, eBay does seem (?) to be cheaper than Flipkart (e.g. Chetan Bhagat’s 2 States is priced at Rs. 98 on Flipkart and Rs. 70/ on eBay).
