Anil Ambani led Reliance Communications has entered into a partnership with BIGFlix, a part of Reliance Group’s digital entertainment business to bring video-on-demand directly to Reliance handsets. As in the latter will provide premium full length movies to all Reliance 3G subscribers.
The service is available on all mobile handsets and Reliance tablets and is charged at Rs 30 per movie with no data charges or any hidden costs.
What you need to do?
To avail this offer all a Reliance subscriber has to do is log on to vod.rcom.co.in using his Reliance mobile. Thereafter the subscribers can access the movie catalogue powered by BIGFlix. At present, vod.rcom.co.in offers 22 full length movies across genres of action, comedy, drama, romance and thriller. Apart from these promotional content is also on offer. These include 16 video songs, 16 trailers and 4 short movie clips.
Who are the other players?
The other players in the market are:
- Ditto TV by Zee New Media
- Nexgtv by Digivive. The company has partnerships with MTS, BSNL and MTNL
- Apalya – Has partnerships with Idea, Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, BSNL, Tata Indicom, Reliance and MTS
While some of these services only charge for video streaming, others charge for data services too!

While is service is definitely a good initiative for all Reliance subscribers, it will be best enjoyed by those who use 3G services and since then if you do not need to pay for data charges it’s all the more merrier.
