Dave McClure’s 500 startups, which recently hired Pankaj Jain to improve its focus on startups based in India has invested in Instamojo, a Mumbai based startup that makes selling on the web easy.

Online restaurant booking website, Dineout.co.in, has raised angel funding from the founders of Travel Boutique online – the online B2B travel agency and Mediology Software. The investment worth Rs 60 lacs will be used to grow technology backend, develop mobile applications and B2C marketing.

The ever favorite children’s comic brand Amar Chitra Katha is going digital, a trend the iconic brand can not afford stay away from. The comic book series which sells more than 90 million copies every year in 20 different languages is reviving its past glory by selling content on the web, television, tablets and through various other channels like audio books and games.

In the new version, one would also be able to listen and stream on all iOS platforms like iPhone, iPad and iPod, Android and the Windows 8 platforms, and download on the Android and Windows 8 platforms. The service already exists on Blackberry and Symbian Platform. The new version will have more social connect besides our existing Hungama My Play application, consumers will be able to sign on through Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and get social feeds as well.

Bangalore based in-site search startup Unbxd, which demoed at Upluggd last year, has received Series A funding from the Indian Angel Network. Post investment Manav Garg, an IAN member is joining the company as a board member, the company announced today. The funds were raised nearly six months ago to scale up operations.
